Who knew my favourite part about getting advertisers wasn’t going to be the money I made from it, but going through the different sites and picking out my favourite things?
O.K., it really is the money, but going through the sites is a lot of fun! And I know about fun! Actually that’s not true. Once on a trip to New York City one of those people who try to drag you in to see comedy shows grabbed my boyfriend and I. He went through his big long spiel about how going to see this comedy show would be the best experience of our lives and it might even end up on television blah, blah, blah. He finished with “Doesn’t that sound like fun?!”. I looked him directly in the eyes and said “I don’t like fun.”. To which my boyfriend affirmed … “She really doesn’t”.
It’s not that I don’t like “fun” per say, so much as my idea of fun is different from most people’s. For me, organizing a closet is fun. Going to a bar is not. Rearranging the coffee table is fun. New Year’s Eve is not. Chopping wood is fun. Comedy Clubs are not. No big whoop.
And as I mentioned, going through my advertisers sites and picking out my favourite pieces is FUN!
Today I’m featuring Tara Gilchrist who is a fellow Canadian! Yay! She makes really sleek, homemade glass jewellery. She also does some glass blowing. Which I’ve tried to do and incidentally, thought was fun.
This is Tara’s button …
And these are a few of my favourite things …
Red and Pink Ring
I absolutely love this glass red ring. It reminds me of candy hearts and Valentine’s Day. Plus it’s only $22.
Black and White Cufflinks
I have never had occasion to wear cufflinks, but if I did … these would be the ones I would wear. I love all the mod/graphic design she uses.
I also love these ones …
Blown Glass Ant Bowl
I love this. It’s clever. And I’m partial to clever. Tara has a whole “Ant” motif. She has rings with a big ant on them, cufflinks, pendants. Again … I LOVE them.
Red, White and Gray Pendant
(all her earrings are 30% off right now, by the way)
I’m the sort of person who always thinks I want to wear big chandelier earrings. Then when I try them on I feel like a prostitute at worst, a drag queen at best. They’re the sort of thing that only certain people can pull off. People like Diana Ross. And Dame Edna. THESE … I could pull off. Most probably after a long day of not having fun.
