Printable Oscar Ballot

by Karen on February 23, 2012

You know what’s wrong with the Oscars?  There isn’t nearly enough drinking.  What makes a truly great awards show is drunkenness.  Knowing that at any given moment someone could get up on stage and say something completely obnoxious and stupid.  Without drinking all we have is Sean Penn.

Every year I try to watch as many Oscar nominated movies and performances as possible but this year I’ve kind of slacked.  I’ve seen every episode of Gold Rush Alaska, but not even half of the Oscar nominated movies.   I haven’t seen nearly enough of the movies to make the awards show enjoyable (without drunknness).  One year we came close to seeing every single movie and performance, and the show was infinitely more enjoyable.

Alas, there’s always the hair and dresses.  I’d like to make a few predictions. Angelina Jolie will wear her hair in a bun and act like a serious grown up, Meryl Streep will ignore all stylist advice and wear something she found in the back of her closet, and  Katy Perry will dress like she belongs in a Saturday morning cartoon.  Just kidding.  Katy Perry probably won’t even be at the Oscars.

Even though I haven’t seen a lot of the performances I’m still going to make my predictions, I’m still going to snack on Antojitos and I’m still going to watch the Oscars.  I’ve been known to make a little wager with those around me and I find it’s easier to run an honest game when you have an actual Oscar Ballot printed out.  So I have for you a printable Oscar ballot so you TOO can sit around, make predictions, snack on Antojitos, watch the Oscars and make wagers.

Whether or not you choose to “evaluate” (sounds better than criticize)  hair, makeup and dresses is entirely up to you.  And in case you missed it last year, here is how my house will be decked out for Oscar night.

Enjoy the Oscars!  I’ll be Face-booking and Tweeting  throughout the ceremony so if you don’t follow me now’s a good time to start.  Every time I Tweet or Facebook any event I always say something to anger someone to the point that they unfollow / unlike / unfriend me.  So that’s always fun.

As always, the weekly menu goes up tomorrow … have a good weekend … eat some potato chips … and I’ll see you on Monday.

Ah, it’s so good to see The Girls again! I had no idea you were the one that took my trash!

Seriously, why aren’t those out year-round? Or at least in winter. They’d be perfect coat racks, right? Stop hiding your light (or their headlights, I guess?) in the basement, Karen.

What’s for antojitos? Is that going to be in The Menu Plan?

      • Karen

Hey Marti – I just picked up the antojito ingredients today! I wasn’t planning on having them for dinner … I can’t remember *what* I have scheduled for dinner that night ( think it might be leftover gooey macaroni & cheese ). But now that I think about it, I have a few quesadillas in the freezer. It could be Mexican night for the Oscars. Or …we’ll have macaroni and cheese AND antojitos during the Oscars. Either way … we’re eating antojitos. ~ karen

I’ve seen two movies that are on the ballot: Bridesmaids and Harry Potter. I am extremely cultured.

I *do* plan on seeing The Help and The girl with the dragon tattoo once I’ve red the books though.

Antojitos are one of the best things in the world.

Oh. My. God. I wasn’t following you yet last year. Those girls are something else!! I do the occasional curbside shopping myself and I would have loved to see my husband’s face if I had brought these home, lol!! It would have been so worth it just for that.

You should take them out more often and play dress up with them. For example, you could put Santa Claus lingerie on them at Christmas, witch costumes at Hallowe’en, etc.

      Have a great Oscar evening.

I think it would be fun to dedicate a post to “past comments that affected your follower-ship”

Kinda fun to see what gets others’ irritated….

      maybe that’s just me.

I gotta say, I would love to see that! :)

Can we make a drinking game where every time you post we get to chug?

    • Barbie

I put your printable oscar ballot on my desktop to use on Sunday….I’ve never had one before! This will be fun to watch the oscars with. Thanks Karen. Your such a hoot! ….and the girls? LOVE EM!

I’ve been slacking too this year, although I have to say I had a back problem for many months at the beginning of the year. I’ve only seen Hugo from the nominations for best picture and Harry Potter which is also nominated for something. Even Monsieur Lazhar has been put back in theatres because it’s nominated in best foreign films and I haven’t seen it. It’s from Quebec and evenmore, the movie is directed by Philippe Falardeau who is from my own small city… But I always watch the Oscars anyway :)

It would be great if Woody Allen won because it is a hoot to listen to him speak. There is the possibilty of drunkeness with Nick Nolte. Brad and George are up for the same award which is late in the program and with George carrying a flask and him and Brad being friends, it could make for some fun in acceptance speeches. I think your girls are far sexier than Oscar!

Thanks for the antojito recipe, the hubby will love them!

      Karen,

Not sure if you know but a picture of your room is on today’s Apartment Therapy’s page.

      Yay!

      • Karen

Bols – Well … kind of “yay”. They credited Style at Home instead of me. Which is understandable, cause Style at Home Magazine took the picture. They just aren’t the ones who styled the bookcases. :/ ~ karen

I’ll be in Yosemite on Oscar night – didn’t plan it but feel smug anyway! would like to see a bear (from a distance).

Being the sophisticated old broad that I am, I’ve seen one movie this year and it was a winner. It was The Help and I loved it and cried if that’s worth anything to wager on. It struck very close to home since I was married for over half my life to a southerner whose family had “help”. That would be a polite word for keeping slaves but don’t get me started. Any hooo, I loved the movie and I hope Angelina Jolie has gained some weight. She is close to being dangerously thin. Good thing she’s got those lips to hold her down.

LOVE the set design. The whole “glamorous old Hollywood” thing rocks! There have been some hideous sets in the past. This is elegant, stylish, classy, and nostalgic. Art deco never disappoints. :D Now if only the people would live up to the set.

I enjoyed the Oscars because of you. You made me very excited about it. So thanks.

      • Karen

:) You’re welcome. I was just saying to my mother today she should have been on my Facebook page while watching them. It’s like being at an Oscar party but being able to wear your pjamas. ~ karen
