There’s only one way to know if you like pickled pigs feet. Ya have to eat em. You may think you hate them. But you won’t really know until you pop one of them into your mouth, pull the small hairs off your tongue and chew away. And chew and chew and chew. With food, as with everything else you have to experiment. Sometimes there’s a real purpose to my experiments and sometimes they’re just to satisfy my curiosity. Or my need to get rid of a bunch of pickled pigs feet.

Maple Syrup Taste Test
May the best sap win.

by Karen on December 5, 2010

Maple Syrup. Organic Specialty vs. Mass Produced. What the hell’s the difference? These are the thoughts I have. A few weeks ago during Canadian Thanksgiving my friend Marilyn dropped off a bottle of organic Maple Syrup from a Maple Syrup farm her sister lives near. I have rationed it as best I could ever since. [...]

by Karen on October 5, 2010

Emergency situation! Bear Grylls style.  Imagine it … You’re in the shower. As a modern woman, you need to shave your legs immediately for one of two reasons. Either … 1) You’re about to go on a 3rd date. or 2) You’ve let the past 2 weeks go by without shaving your legs because you [...]

Will WD-40 stop mirrors from fogging up?

by Karen on July 3, 2010

I think I might be a skeptic.   I’m not really sure.  I’m even skeptical about that. Oddly enough it was writing about WD-40 that brought me to this realization.  The moment I read the (so far) fraudulent email about the virtues of WD-40 I didn’t believe it.  I gave it a sideways glance and [...]

My 75 year old mother is slowly but surely learning how to navigate her way around her laptop.  She has spent the past 4 years seriously dedicating herself to understanding the nuances and intricacies of the Internet. In that time she has learned how to Google.  In that time she has not learned how to [...]

Science Experiment:

by Karen on April 10, 2010

Experiment: Will Coke dissolve a T-Bone steak in 2 days like the forwarded email my mother sent me says? Read this if you didn’t catch the initial post on this experiment! My experiment started 2 days ago when I dropped a T-Bone steak into a bowl and covered it with Coke.  DON’T WORRY!  I got [...]

Science Experiment:
Coke! The Real Thing.

by Karen on April 7, 2010

My mother is of a certain age, and because of this she doesn’t know how to send an email.  Ohhhhhhhhh, but she can forward one.  Seriously.  She has no idea how to actually compose and write an email to any one of her knit wit friends (they’re friends who actually knit) but boy oh boy [...]
