Surprise! Yeah. It’s a post, lol. A Day in the life of me!
Video.

What was I saying? Oh right. I’m on vacation so there won’t be any posts this week. Yes indeed.

O.K. this isn’t really a post so don’t go all apeshit on me for working on my vacation.

A few days ago my friend Andrea came to visit. She came quite a distance so I figured I’d better show her a good time and fire up the pizza oven. It’s a long drive from Singapore. Figured she’d be famished by the time she got here. Turns out she ate between leaving Singapore and arriving at my house. Seems a bit ungracious if you ask me, especially when she knew I was making pizza but whatever. Some people are just selfish that way I guess. You know. Only thinking of themselves.

What was I saying?

Right. So Andrea and her daughter Zoie came to visit the chickens and my pizza oven. I just happened to be here as well which was either a bonus or an annoyance for them. I didn’t much care so long as I got to fire up Belchy. I’ve named my pizza oven and not only is that not weird, it would be weird not to.

I should explain that I’ve known Andrea for the past 12 years.  We were both cast members of a makeover show called Stylin’ Gypsies. I was the host, she was the hair and makeup expert.  And even back then, in the olden days, when cell phones had antennas you had to pull out, Andrea was utilizing social media. She always had the newest phone, camera or gadget.  She’d work deals, make trades, and really understood, YEARS before I did, the power of the Internet in terms of networking, both socially and professionally.   She’s what you’d call a mover and a shaker.  She moved herself to Singapore several years ago but we’ve stayed in touch through … social media.

When she came to visit she had her trusty camera with her and documented the whole visit to my pretend farm Green Fakers.  Everything from hanging with the chickens to ending the night with a game of Heads Up, which I had never played before.  As you’ll notice.

So as I relax for the rest of my vacation, please enjoy this little glimpse into my life courtesy of Andrea.

Now stop bugging me. I’m on vacation.

That was a sweet little video.
Nice to see Belchy in action.
Enjoy your time off, I hope you get a chance to decompress and relax and recharge your batteries.
And I hope you don’t ever decide to pack it all in and get a different job!!!
    Your blog is wonderful.

  9. Tigersmom says:

See, you do know how to relax. You just need a little help distracting you from stuff you could be doing.

Hint: You don’t have to be comatose on the couch to relax. You just have to be enjoying yourself with the absence of worrying about anything. Just as restorative as a coma, I swear.

  10. Robin says:

What a wonderful vacay! Thanks for sharing all the fun. (I’ve been making our pizzas from scratch lately and I didn’t know how to stretch the dough. Thanks for that tidbit)

  11. Barb says:

  12. Janet W says:

  13. Melissa in North Carolina says:

Thanks for sharing! What Cathy said :)

  14. Feral Turtle says:

    Such a sweet video. Karen’s Daycare….coming soon!

  15. MelissaM says:

“Cut the cheese” jokes never get old!

  16. Mary Werner says:

Yeah, that is exactly what you need – a child for the chickens.

  17. Karen says:

You know, I almost didn’t stop by, despite the fact that’s it’s usually the first thing I do when i fire up the old Dell in the morning – head to this blog. But then I thought, wouldn’t it be just like Karen to post even when she says she’s not going to? You know – not in a lying sort of way, but in a funny, quirky, “AHA – GOTCHA” kind of way. And so I came on over. And yep, there it was. A “gotcha” post. :)

  18. Leslie says:

I am so hungry after watching that. And what a cute kid.

  19. JeannieB says:

Little kids are so funny! Loved your video. So much fun!

  20. Eric H says:

you should’ve sang the Katy Perry song “California girls” instead of the Beach Boys one…

    and now i feel shame…

    • Grammy says:

You should feel shame, Eric. Anyone who’s anyone knows “California Girls” makes the Beach Boys sounds fill your brain so there is nothing left until the song has played through all your synapses. It’s a law in several countries.

  21. Rondina says:

    She is adorable.

A Styling’ Gypsy invited Zoie over to meet Cuddles and Cheese Whiz and cook dinner in Belchy.

I think that sentence is a fairly good reflection of your life.

  22. Grammy says:

Oh, Karen. That was such a fun video and especially because all the girls (including chickens) are just so cute.

And then some creep has to go drop spam on you in comment #23. Why don’t those people find someone else’s punchbowl to $#!T in?

  23. Ev Wilcox says:

Hope you are enjoying your time off. REALLY hope you never leave us! Your girls are sweet and I hope the child realizes that someday. Belchy is awesome. Enjoy and have fun!

  24. dana says:

So cute! Zoie is adorable. What lucky girls to be living in Singapore, too. She is going to remember that fun time at your house for her whole life. Have a great vacay!

  25. dana says:

By the way, have you ever been told you look like Helen Mirren?

  26. Thanks K!

    We had a blast.

    See you next year!!

    xo

  27. Stephbo says:

“It’s so polite of Karen to go cut the cheese in a different area. ”

I totally snorted on that one. Loved it!

  28. Kari says:

    “Green Fakers Farm” hahaha

  29. Ruth says:

    That pizza oven…. *wistful sigh*

  30. Andrea is brills with the camera. The end.

    PS. LOVED the video

Cuddles misses me. Time for a road trip to the treehouse :)

  31. stefani says:

How nice that you shared a bit of your vacation. It looks like you are having a good time. The only down side is that now I want pizza:0(
