This Week’s Menu.
March 18th – 24th

by Karen on March 15, 2013

Alert! Alert! I’ve already noticed a problem with my menu for this week. The fella is running the Hamilton Around the Bay Road race on Sunday which means Saturday night will be whatever carb concoction he wants for his pre-race meal. Lasagna maybe. Spaghetti and meatballs. Dunno. So, expect to see the Chinese Potstickers moved to the following week.

Or maybe not. Maybe we’ll get such a shock of warm weather that I’ll break out the smoker and cook a batch of ribs while lounging in my backyard wearing shorts and flip flops.

You don’t know. It could happen. As a matter of fact, LAST March 19th it was 23 degrees (over 70 Fahrenheit). I know, because it’s when the fella and I started to rip out the front yard to put in the vegetable garden. I have pictures of us in shorts and tee shirts.

Based on that information I’d like to revise my scenario. I think I’ll probably still be eating ribs from the smoker while wearing shorts and flip flops, along with … corn from the garden.

You don’t know. It could happen.

we must have had the same March heat wave here last year (I’m in Rhode Island) – there were two really nice weeks with a couple days that it was in the high 80′s! I’m all for it again this year!! :)

Good luck to the Fella..or break a leg..which ever he prefers..although I don’t think he would prefer breaking a leg..not for real..I think I need a nap..or some good food now that you made me hungry..Enjoy..the food and the race..sigh..

Just made Turkey patties and have found if I grind fennel seed or use anise seed it gives it a great spicy taste. Tonight I did that and made a pocket and inserted a small amount of blue cheese and wrapped the meat around it. I also added red pepper flakes and thyme I dried from my garden. I do the same thing and make meatballs or smaller balls I can put on pizza.

Yummy! This all sounds so good to an experienced eater, that I am. Good luck to the Fella. Cheers.

So here in Texas, it’s in the mid-80′s right now and it’s supposed to be almost 90 tomorrow. So yeah, I think I’ll definitely be in shorts and flip flops on Wed. We picked up some great smoked brisket yesterday and I will be grilling the rest of this week for sure! Next week, we’ll be back in the 70′s – break out the sweaters!

Hah. Funny. Today it’s cold enough to snow, but sunny enough for the sap to flow. 10 cm of snow tomorrow. (around 4″) ~ karen!
