Christie’s Antique Show & Sale

Hello all!  I’m putting this short and semi-sweet (I’ve never actually been described as sweet. Sardonic, sarcastic, sweaty, stupid … yes. But sweet, no.) post for the benefit of everyone who has been emailing to ask if I’ll be at the Christie Antique Show & Sale this Saturday.

Yes, I will, and yes you may come up to me to say hello.

In fact, if you come up to me and say hi at the show, I’ll take your picture and put you in my annual Christie’s Antique Show & Sale post.  (if you don’t want to be in the post no problem … but you’ll have to buy me french fries)

To make things easy for you I have picked out my outfit and drawn a picture of what I will look like whilst I walk around the show.

I’m bringing a limited number of Art of Doing Stuff bookmarks with me, so if you see me ask for one!

Kay. I have to go to sleep now. A girl needs a lot of rest for something of this magnitude. Gay men and the elderly may look dainty but they’ll shank you if you get between them and an original 18th century Danish tapestry.

  1. Maureen Locke says:

Have fun.. wish I could come and meet you but it’s a bit far to travel, though I hear the drive is only 20 hours or so. Damn…. I should have planned this better. 🙁 Perhaps you’ll come to Nova Scotia someday. 🙂

  2. Reg says:

May you have good weather and don’t forget the sunscreen.

  3. Corinne says:

I so wanted to be there today. Have gone the past couple of years. But have to work today. Enjoy. Post lots of pictures so I can see what I missed.

  4. Debbie W. says:

So LUCKY!! I have been planning on going since I read your post last year about this sale!! And then my kids soccer league dared to put the kick off tournament on the SAME weekend – boooooo hoooooo hoooooooooooooo!!! Can’t wait to see what finds you come up with!!

  5. Lola says:

I was there and got some good treasures, but failed in my own best advice of “if you love it buy it, it won’t be there when you finally make up your mind and find the booth again”. Lucky for someone else they have my school house rewired light fixtures, sad for me still on the search for the perfect lights for my kitchen reno.

    • Karen says:

Oh no. You can never leave it behind. NEVER LEAVE IT BEHIND! I got a few things that I absolutely love so I’m happy I went. I wasn’t really in the mood to go this year and ended up buying more than I normally do! Post to come later in the week. 🙂

  6. Laura Bee says:

Places like that I could go crazy. Well, I used to when I was younger & had extra cash in my life. Somewhere between quitting drinking & buying a house & having a baby. Now I need to have a wish list and a budget and stick to it.

  7. Jenn says:

We passed you twice at the show today, but I didn’t read this post until now or I would have said Hi!

  8. gloria says:

Shank! Har! I love a good shank joke.

  9. Chris says:

Once again I missed the show – darn it! I think Milton is having a similar one soon so hopefully I can get to that one. Do you have some helpful advice on what is acceptable in haggling a price? Sorry I missed you. Look forward to your post on Christie Trip ’13.

  10. Sarah P says:

Christie’s Antique Show is like Christmas for me – jump out of bed early to get there at 8. Came home with a few great finds this year.

  11. Jody says:

Karen, I’m sorry I was such a dork when I met you yesterday. I was just so flummoxed meeting you. Even my son said I was weird. I think I talked more to your sister than you! Anyway it was great meeting you.

  12. Nancy Blue Moon says:

Sorry I missed this post..was out of town morning till night..came home and fell into bed..Hope you had a great day..can’t wait to see what you brought home!!

  13. Carolyne says:

I saw you but saw this post after I got home or I would have said Hello. What I did however, was take your photo from a distance. Is that considered creepy or something else?
