Cuddles. The little chicken so aptly named because all she wanted to do was sit in my lap and have her belly rubbed.
Cuddles. The little chicken that followed me with her eyes since she was a day old.
Cuddles. The little chicken that would quietly post for pictures in my arms whenever a newspaper, magazine or friend wanted to snap a shot.
Cuddles, the little chicken who cheated death on too many occasions to count, has died.
I'll tell you more a little later about what happened. Just not now.
Thank you to everyone who worried, offered advice, shed a tear or broke into a smile because of her these past 5 years.
Have a good weekend.
Karen

Please accept my thoughts and prayers. Losing a pet is so very hard and it takes a long time for the grief not to be raw. Hang in there.
Karen as well
My heart is breaking for your great loss. Know that she was absolutely blessed to be cherished and cared by you. I am also so grateful to you, for enlightening so many of us, to how lovely a creature we call a chicken actually is.

So sorry for your loss. As the loving owner of an aging flock of pet chickens, I can share your feelings of loss and grief. We form such attachments to these sweet, funny little yard birds and it is very hard to say goodbye. My thought are with you. I have no doubt Cuddles knew how much she was loved by both you and your fans.

Bless you Karen and Cuddles. She was well-loved and that's the best thing we can give any of our fellows in the time and space we call life and you did it... well. I wish there was something I could say that would make you feel better.

I thought I gave my condolences yesterday but could not find my comments. Cuddles was not "just" a chicken. She was a rock-star of the interweb. Who else could receive 347 condolences in a span of 2 days.
Cuddles, live long and prosper in your new existence. RIP

So sorry to hear this Karen. Our pets are our children. Cuddles had a great mom and you were so fortunate to experience her love and devotion.
Mindy
We said goodbye to a beloved pet last year and the loss is excruciating. I'm so sorry.

I am so sorry. Losing a pet us alwYs so hard. I think the "cuddly" ones are the hardest. You just want them in your lap one more time. There isn't much your readers can do except to jet you know you have a community of people who understand your pain.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry, Karen.

You are a beautiful writer and your stories made Cuddles a real, live character for all of us.
I can only repeat what our veterinarian told me when we lost our beloved Otis Pee Rat to a particularly wretched form of cancer a few years ago: You gave her a wonderful life.
I'm so sorry you're going through this, Karen.
