From me … and the chickens.
Happy Easter Karen!
Ok, I have to ask… did the Fella read your post and the comments from yesterday? I would love to hear what he had to say about both.
Bethkay – He *did* read the post. Whenever I write a post about him I let him read it first to make sure he’s O.k. with it. I’m nice like that. He read some but not all of the comments. He of course, likes them. :) ~ karen
Happy Easter to you Karen, and your fabulous fella, fella’s father, your furballs, feathered friends and the rest of your family. :)
HE IS RISEN!
What a good little model she is – giving you the smize (you have to watch America’s Next Top Model to get that) – smiling with her eyes;)
p.s., I thought of you at 5:00 this morning when I got up to go pee. I thought…’no way would I get up right now to watch someone make & eat a ginormous breakfast for a marathon.’ I then puttered back into my cozy, warm blankets and thought about how you really are such a trooper with all your athletic support for the fella! You obviously deserve a day at the spa or something.
HAPPY EASTER to you Karen..the Fella..the chickens..the kitties..Betty..the Fella’s Dad & all of the other readers here..That is a great picture Karen..how long did it take you to get Norma to pose so perfectly??
Thanks Nancy! I had the fella hold an apple in front of her face. ;) ~ karen
Happy Easter to you and your furry family and family. Love the picture!
LOLOLOL! I LOVE the name Norma for you beautiful Chicky! My moms name was Norma! However your Norma looks so much easier going! :)
How do I put my picture in the wee icon when I leave a comment? Right now, I look like an egg head. That won’t make a good impression with the fella. hahaaaaaaaaaaa
LOL. Lynne – I use Gravatar. You can program it for different profile pics for different social media. Easy. ~ karen!
Yup, I am printing that pic alongside yesterdays pic of the fella, and framing them on my mantle.
I will mostly be staring at the fella.
From my girls, Polly,Molly,Cookie,Rosie and Cher to you and yours, Happy Easter
Do the girls get a day off? Or are they working overtime now? Quiche…eggs for dying…deviled eggs…Easter bread…
Beautiful picture. Norma’s gorgeous & she knows it, and I definitely have a big old case of Egg Envy (EE).
Happy Easter Karen, fella, Betty, felines and fowl.
Mickey – Thanks! And … there was a slight tea towel delay. I’ll be making yours this weekend and shipping it off along with Marilyn’s, Marti’s … and someone elses … I forget who. ASAP. ~ karen!
IS IT ME?? IS IT ME??? IT’S ME ISN’T IT?? YIPPEE!!!
Oh and here I thought you had to have “photoshopped” those eggs or the chicken into the picture. Or…you taxidermied the chicken ( or even the eggs (hardboiled) )…..;)
Nice pic though…like a movie star chicken.
I’m trying to figure out if that is your hen or Martha Stewart’s. I know her’s lay the colored eggs but I can’t remember seeing your eggs being anything but white. I’ve tried not to think about the eggs that do come out pre-colored because I don’t want to have to build a coop. What I’m trying to say is that if I knew what kind lays those eggs I’d be even more tempted to buy some and I need something else to care for like I need another hole in my head. I have been able to control the chicken envvy by thinking how awful it would be to have to bring them inside when it gets bitter cold but it never got very cold this past winter. I’m too tender hearted to leave them to have their combs freeze off as I was forced to when my parents had chickens. They were my chore to feed, water and help butcher but that was one time this little people pleaser revolted. I went to bed, pulled the blanket over my head and stayed there until that awful day was over. I had tended them from fluffyhood to eating size and had, of course made pets of them. I was the oldest of five and mother’s little helper so of course my labor was planned into the event but there was just no way. I was trying to remember how many chickens it took to feed a family but it was a lot and it took all day to do the dirty deed. Ok, good, I’ve just talked myself out of the desire to own chickens even if they would lay golden eggs. I’m fine, now! Happy Easter/Passover. I don’t even want to think about how many baby pigs it takes to make all those danm hams. Nope, not even going there. LOL
Gayla – Nope … my chickens have never laid white eggs. 2 of them lay a light pinkish egg, and 2 of them lay greenish blue eggs. (sometimes more green, sometimes more blue) They’re supposed to be Rhode Island Reds, but obviously some Araucana or Ameraucana has snuck its way into them. So … start building that coop. ~ karen!
Gayla … Have you not read this post? https://www.theartofdoingstuff.com/the-story-of-the-ugly-little-hen/ ~ karen!
I just ordered chicks. I’m getting two Easter Eggers which do lay the colored eggs, Gayle. I’m getting other chickens, too, although I don’t have to build a coop as one was already on the property when we moved in last summer.
Love the picture. Is the chicken really named Cuddles??
Happy Easter to you and yours Karen. Enjoy your weekend.
Moe – I have a chicken named Cuddles, but the chicken you see there is actually Norma. ~ karen!
my mother-in-law is named Norma :)
Happy Easter Karen, Fella and chicks!
It’s beyond me how you got that photo without a load of smashed eggs!
Mimi – I *did* get a load of smashed eggs. 4 I believe. I have pictures somewhere. ~ karen
