Pet Pictures Part I

I normally start these posts off with some kind of story or fact or even a hilarious joke. I’m kind of known for my extraordinary knock knock jokes.

Knock Knock.

Who’s there??

Me Who?

It’s me you idiot. You’re the one who asked me to come over.

See? Case in point.

But today it’s not the words that matter so much as the pictures, so I’m gonna get right to those.

Last week, after showing you a picture of my friend Debbie’s dog, I asked you to send in pictures of your own pets doing extraordinary things. Or … just sitting there.

And here they are …

Knock Knock.

Who’s there?

Cat. (reaches out and snatches body part)

Cah haww?

Cat got your tongue.

Honestly. They come to me like nothing. I could write a book I tell you.

Didn’t see your pet picture?  Don’t worry.  This was Part I of II.  Next Pet Picture post … in one week.

Have a good weekend.

I almost forgot … reader Carolyn didn’t send in a pet picture, but DID send in this video. She found it on the Internet and forwarded it to me thinking I’d like it. WHO WOULDN’T LIKE IT??? You *have* to watch it.  Now.

  1. designlove says:

    Loca, is Feckin hilarious!

  2. Where are my cats!?!? This pet post must be rigged.

    Nikki Kelly

    • Karen says:

Nikki – Hmm. You didn’t read the whole post did you? DID YOU? You did not. This is Part I of II. Next week will be the rest of the pics. ~ karen!

      • I did read it all! I will even claim the trilogy was my idea (I left a comment telling you to do so on Facebook)! I guess I can forgive you if part 3 is *just* about my cats. You know, because they’re just that awesome. Maybe I’ll even get Detective Tubbs to shake my hand for you on a video. Would that sweeten the deal enough? Or maybe I should send chips!

        Nikki Kelly

        • Ok. Now I feel real dumb. I read so much of your post that I read an extra I to make it III. I must have been real tired. But feel free to do a trilogy to spare me the embarrassment.

          Nikki Kelly

  3. Lindsey R. says:

The video was so feckin funny! I think I woke up everyone in the house laughing. That is some serious pet dedication. Well done Carolyn of Belfast!

  4. Debbie from Illinois says:

Oh my! I think Loca the Pug is “feckin” amazing!!!

  5. Leona says:

    Knock Knock
    Who’s there?
    Feckin who?
Feckin who cries over a pug video?

    OH…feckin me. (sigh)

    Great story.

  6. nancy says:

Really, you could of made an entire blog post just of the video, Part III or something. I bet you’re kicking yourself now.
OK, all of the photos are wonderful, I especially like the black and white cat looking so elegant sitting in the tiger striped chair. And the cat on the clothesline, that looks like a greeting card waiting to happen.

  7. Amanda says:

All the photos are soooo adorable… but ya Lola stole the show!!! Other than Lola my next favorite is the Happy Meal kitten… sooo feckin cute!!!

  8. Lesley says:

Every single pet here is absolutely freakin’ gorgeous!! Although I do feel bad for that little Doberman pup. It appears his owner has had the poor pup’s ears cropped : (

    • pumpkin says:

Finally someone said “freakin”! Is “feckin” a Canadian term? I would be happy to bring it to the Midwest, if that’s the case.

      • Lesley says:

Feck was originally an Irish word meaning steal (I had to look this up!) and feckless means useless, ineffectual or ineffective. I think though that fecking is now a sort of more polite replacement for the other f word. You tend to hear it in Ireland, Scotland and parts of England, which is where I’m from.

I don’t know where freaking came from, though I’m guessing its also another way of saying the f word (as is frigging, or frakking if you’re a Battlestar Galactica fan). I first heard it in Canada which is where I live now.

  9. Kailee says:

I like the cleverly camouflaged, zig-zagged rug napper.

  10. Gayla T says:

Karen’s clan has a member in Belfast? KAREN’S CLAN HAS A MEMBER IN BELFAST! I loved Belfast and had a couple of great mis-adventures there. Good ones of course. How could anyone have a bad time in Belfast? That’s the funniest little fellow I’ve ever seen. It’s hilarious until I found out that he has a problem that causes it so now I’m sorry I laughed. How politically incorrect can you get than laughing at a handicapped dog? I love the little white dog with brown chin whiskers and the puppy sitting on the big dog and the Siamese cat in the sweater. I have four dogs, three cats and 2 birds but no pictures of this generaton. I hate to take pics and all the people who I usually palmed that off on have gone to heaven or the nursing home. Even my baby sister is in a day care nursing home program. She took the best pics. I did take a few with my cell phone but I haven’t been able to find it for 2 months. Have I come up with enough excuses for not sending one? I would prefer my animals not get wind of me not posting their pics or I’ll be in big trouble. It’s usually the Persian that gets every body upset and then they start plotting against me. Not good at all. I’ll have to get my DIL or someone to take pix so you can see my strange brood. Does that chicken have only one leg or is she just resting the missing one. is she one of yours Karen? I just love chickens…….and dogs and cats and horses but you get my drift. This was great idea so maybe we can see their kids next?

  11. Carol-Anne says:

They are all such great photos! The video; feckin AWESOME!

  12. Heather says:

Love this one– The Loca video is hysterical! My personal favs are the cat in the fighter jet and the golden retriever with glasses. Fun. Thank you.

  13. sarah says:

That video was the greatest! What a good giggle for waking up at the crack of dawn!

  14. Ann says:

Love, love, love the entire blog post. Is it too late to send more pics? Cause I have the cutest cats in the entire world. And the most adorable dog. Coolest chickens too. And my fish…..well OK, I won’t go as far as to say my fish are anything but fish.

    • Karen says:

Hi Ann – Too late. Don’t worry though. I’m sure I’ll do another pet post at some point in the future! ~ karen

  15. Phyllis says:

I have tears in my eyes!…. and Mark is singing flouncing, bouncing, on his way to the shower…somehow I think this will be his new morning song!! Thanks for sharing with us all!! I love blind kitty too …no…I mean kitty at blinds..gorgeous shot!

  16. Carolyn says:

Wow Karen, you really did like that video!
It’s hilarious. Glad I could add to your blog in some way!

Just to clarify, I just found the video online by chance & sent it to Karen because it’s funny. So I don’t live in Ireland and don’t know the people or the dogs. I’d love to meet them though because they made a great video!
    Enjoy everyone!

    • Leona says:

Thank you for true integrity. It’s so rare these days I just had to say…WTG!!! Yes, it was easy to misunderstand and you stood up right away.

“Character is what you do when no one will ever know”

(In an interesting twist of irony it appears that multiple authors are credited with that quote.)

  17. Makes me wish I’d discovered you and your blog sooner (just found you this week, on Pinterest)so I could have sent a couple photos of our cats. They’re feckin’ hilarious, too. Is there still time?

By the way, Karen, you remind me of The Bloggess. That’s a big compliment, but you probably already knew that, didn’t you? 😉

    • Karen says:

Kylee – Too late for pictures, but don’t worry. Every Friday there’s some sort of interactive thingamabob, so I’m sure to ask for pet pictures again. I was just speaking with a friend of mine yesterday about The Bloggess. Yup. It’s a compliment. ~ karen!

  18. Beckie says:

I like how every pet *caught* in a weird place all wear that “what? who? me?” expression

the skunky doggie looking at the can of tomato juice is awesome! and whoever owns the cat in the car with the wild eyes should sleep with their own eyes open lol

and…I have that feckin song stuck in my feckin brain now LOLOL

  19. Mary Werner says:

ALL the Photos Are Gorgeous of All the Fabulous Animals that We all Own! WOW. Can’t understand how so many fantastic animals belong to your amazing readers!! Now – Having said that, LOCA is Fecking Funny and I love that her owners told the story at the end so I could enjoy laughing instead of feeling bad for laughing. Can anyone say viral?

  20. Deborah says:

Adorable video! Had tears in my eyes at the end, I am such a sap for critters. Now, onto some serious business….can I have a Happy Meal to go? 😉

  21. Brenda says:

Oh my goodness, they are all so adorable. What is it with planters & pets..LOL. LOVE them ALL!!
Oh and from experience I can say the BEST way to de-skunk your dog is with Dawn dish soap, warm water, a bit of hydrogen peroxide.
Honestly for a smart dog he just can’t grasp the theory if you try to grab a skunk you will be sorry….sigh.

  22. marilyn says:

they were all awesome, but wow that video was funny

  23. Sorry to add to it, but i just ADORE that video.
I love the Belfast accent too, it’s just fab, fab, fab!

  24. Thera says:

    Loca is kick @ss!!!!
The rest are also adorable 🙂

  25. Salomé says:

That is the cutest little Happy Meal! (Loca is pretty awesome too.)

  26. amy says:

That is one of the top 5 best videos i’ve ever seen. I laughed, I cried, I can’t wait to get home from work and hug my dog.

  27. Kim Merry says:

Okay, you made my laugh out loud and then cry! Great Video!!

  28. Sherry (BTLover2) says:

Wonderful photos of beautiful babies!! I could look at them all day (and maybe I will). But that video… I laughed so hard and loud and nearly spit coffee out onto my computer (again). Smooshy Loca, I love you!

  29. Stephanie bray-voorhes says:

Oh my goodness! I loved loca’s video. I had to watch it a couple of times, just too cute.

  30. So how did the kitty get on top of the laundry rack??? Great pics everyone! Wish I had time to dig up one too!

  31. Nicole2 says:

Hey Karen, thanks for posting my big, fat, lazy, lovable blob of a cat (the black one on her back with white on her tummy scratching it whilst looking out the window).

Great pics of all the critters! They’re all a riot. And Loca! Love!!!

  32. Maureen @theThriftyLass says:

Any video with animals which repeatedly uses the word “feckin” is all right by me!

  33. Langela says:

I like the cat on the striped rug. Several of the photos duplicate ones I have taken through the years of our cats and dogs. Cats must like sinks and dogs must like planters. Great post!

  34. Oh Loca! You are just wonderful. I went from falling off my seat laughing to sniff in 3.5 feck*# seconds.

I also loved the patriotic doberman.

Karen, by featuring my husband’s best mate Rudi on your blog you truly have given him the best Father’s Day gift ever.

    Thank you for the smiles.

  35. Shannon says:

Ok, the kitty in the happy meal box is super cute, but my fav (other than Loca) is the chicken in the house with the cat stuck outside the door. Totally a scene from my life! Kids leave door open, chickens come in, cats watch it all happen… mom cleans up mess.

  36. Lindsay says:

That video made my day! I can’t stop watching it. More importantly though, check out that handsome cat in the Coors Light case. 🙂

  37. Anna Starner says:

That video was awesome. I hope Carolyn posts it on U-tube. Will brighten up many peoples days. I did enjoy some of the photos also.

  38. Jamiek says:

the video is too cute! Now I have that song running over and over in my head!

  39. Jodi T. says:

Those are all precious. And I feckin love Loca too 🙂

  40. Ashley says:

    So many cats in sinks!

  41. Libby says:

The cat and the chicken made me spit coffee onto the computer screen. Who keeps chickens indoors? And look at that chicken…so smug.

  42. Deb says:

I like the stray tabby in the flower pot so much it is my wallpaper on my computer. Did he find a new home yet??

  43. Laura Watt says:

    Love the happy meal cat!

  44. Eliesa says:

That video is fabulous. Love that bouncy little dog! And the song had me laughing. Thanks for brightening my morning 😉

  45. Tigersmom says:

    Loca is Feckin’ adorable.

    And so is your face.

    Seriously, I miss your picture.

No offense to Laura Ingalls (years of my childhood were devoted to reading the Little House books over and over again) but a purposeful little jab at Melissa Gilbert, perhaps. That picture of her is starting to creep me out. We’ve suffered enough. Please replace it with your face soon.
    Thank you

  46. Tigersmom says:

    Damn! you’re quick!

    Thank you.

  47. ev says:

Indeed, all the pics were nice–what a great idea! But holy cow, the video was so funny!!! The singing pug has a very nice family, canine as well as human. I so agree with them on no surgery. Why risk it? What a fun happy dog. Thanks Karen!

  48. CC says:

All the pictures brought a smile to my face… The video was just darling, what a way to start Friday, Thank you all and THANK YOU KAREN.. peace

  49. Amy says:

I was laughing so hard over the video that MY dog got concerned and tried to climb in my lap to comfort me!

  50. susan says:

That’s OK, Loca, I can’t fecking run either. You are much more graceful than I. 🙂

    What cute pics!
