This is one of the very few times I've ever dropped Philip's leash and let him run ahead of me. All so I could get this picture.

Picturesque, right?
This photo was a month ago, when snow was still a charming, romantic gesture. Now, it's a blobby, time-consuming obstacle that turned out to be much dirtier than when we first met.
The snow is now too deep to walk through the trails, parks and on most of the sidewalks. #hamilton, ontario
Presently, the snow is properly olden-days, Skidoo suit era deep. The snowbanks are so high you could lead cattle through them if the cattle were especially sure footed or actually goats.

That was a minor impediment on a sidewalk today. The previous 30 minutes of our walk played out like a gerbil maze with the tunnels consistently spitting us out into oncoming traffic.
A lot of sidewalks corners aren't shovelled at all so there are a bunch of bewildered dog owners out walking their dog in squares. The corners may have been cleared by homeowners at one point but 2 hours worth of shovelling can be mowed under in about 2.5 seconds when a snowplow driver listening to AC/DC goes by.
Would you like to save this stuff?
That sort of thing really puts a damper on the level of snow shovelling enthusiasm you can expect from your community.

I've shovelled out my corner, was assisted by a neighbour with a plow more than a few times, and was forced into shovelling my driveway when I realized the snow was too high for me to open my car door.
Like any Canadian worth their weight in road salt, these were the conditions that inspired me to cook a few pizzas outside. As I am very clever and have an unhealthy relationship with pizza.

There is no more snow in the future that I can see. Nothing significant anyway. I know this because of my weather stick. No. I know this because I've doubled checked my weather apps and cross referenced them with the fact that there's nowhere to put anymore snow.

Just kidding. No, no. The real reason I know there won't be anymore snow is because I bought Philip a pair of snow boots. I'm even contemplating a jacket.
Something Steve Podborski-ish.
That is such a great picture of him!
He's an excellent subject! ~ karen
I love Phillip's classic 70's-style mukluks!
That's about right because I can remember having some when I was about 5! My dad wore deerskin moccasins his whole life. They were his indoor slippers. I do as well. :) ~ karen!
