That’s not just a dress! It’s a Post!!

My name’s Karen and I’m a texter.

I text, therefore I am.

As such, I share a lot of my most important information through the magical mystery of texting. Things like what I’m having for dinner, why I hate my socks and where my cat is sitting.

So when I got my new “I’m probably going to wear this every day” spring dress … I started texting. ย The first response I got back was from one of my sisters who exclaimed …

Here is my spring dress …

Dress Front And Back

It’s a nightgown from Target. $24.99 I belted it at the waist.

If you’d like your own pajama dress you can get it from Target right now.

My seeds are started, I washed my windows, I have my new warm weather dress.

Yes indeed. I’m ready for Spring.

you left out the “I live in Canada” part

  2. Laura Watt says:

You look great! and really really cold.

  3. Carolyn says:

Ok, now you have gotten your self all worked up. Dreaming is for the bedroom. Spring is not coming for a couple more months… After the winter we had, I will be surprised if it comes at all. I am not setting my self up. Sure I want the sun on my face and the warm breeze of night. But my summer clothes are staying packed away. Well, maybe…. By the way.. I love the dress and the bag..

  4. Karen says:

Well … technically it’s a nightgown. But thanks, lol! ~ karen

  5. Christina says:

Yipes I got cold just looking at ya!

  6. Debbie says:

Dang, you rock the night gown / dress thing. Is that snow at your house right now?

    • Karen says:

Yes ma’am. It was 3 days ago, I think. More snow for Thursday and Friday, but not much. It’s not normal, even for Southern Ontario. This winter has been freakish. ~ karen!

  7. Kim says:

    Very cute… seriously cute!!

  8. judy says:

just so darling-having been lulled into a 3D vision of Spring(I think I was actually smelling the flowers and Spring breezes) I was totally shocked and might I say appalled by the instantaneous transport back to BRRRRRRRRRRRRR Reality. I don’t really care for reality so you owe me a ticket back to Spring!

  9. Laura Bee says:

The things you do for blog love. hahaha! I almost washed my windows the other day. Maybe Tuesday.

  10. Nancy says:

My MIL and I did that one year, nightgowns we fell in love with from Woodward’s that were perfect as summer dresses. Except when we washed them, they twisted and were unwearable. I wish you better luck with yours!

  11. Mary Edmondson says:

Beautiful tan – good looking dress – smashing model. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. You’ve got plenty to keep you busy inside and your fans are getting desperate to see the new kitchen and the house restored to order. Any hint about the big reveal date??

    • Karen says:

I wish I knew Mary. I still don’t have counters or a sink or a hood or … anything but the cabinets really, lol. I laugh, but I’m crying inside. ~ karen!

  12. calliek says:

Glad to see I’m not the only one who wears nightgowns as dresses- I find they are quite often indistinguishable and usually half the price!

  13. Lauren from Winnipeg says:

Trust me. Every Winnipeger knows what you are feeling right now. I can’t remember the last time we had such huge snow banks. And a winter with such brutally frigid temperatures for such long stretches. Feels like it will never melt.

Sad thing is……I’ll probably complain about the heat in a couple of months. Actually, I know I will, because I am a true Winnipeger.

BTW – absolutely love your front door!

  14. Teresa J says:

OMG – LOL only in Canada!!!

  15. Edith says:

    Hi Karen,

You look beautiful! What a clever idea. Maybe you could put a T-shirt under it until it gets really wam out.

  16. Stacy says:

Well, the good news is that all that snow makes you look super tan!

    • Karen says:

It must be the snow! I got a tiny bit of a tan in Thailand, but not much. I slathered on sunscreen which makes tanning much less fun. ~ karen!

  17. TucsonPatty says:

Wow! That is a seriously cool (no pun intended) “dress”. I love it. I may rush out and find one for myself. I noticed you are on tip-toe as it is a long one. I’m 5′ 2 1/2″ on a good day, and I always have issues with lengths.
You are welcome down here in Tucson – It was 81 degrees F. today, forecast of the same for Thursday and up to 86 on Friday.
    People out in shorts today…
Happy snowy days from your mean friend in Arizona!!! ; )

  18. Grammy says:

I’m pleased to see you have the good taste to wear appropriate footwear with your new Spring dress. Some people would have wimped out and worn warm boots and completely spoiled the effect. Have you ever thought about what actual limits there might be to what you’ll do to entertain us?

  19. Auntiepatch says:

    OMG! You make me laugh!

  20. Nancy says:

Ah ah ahhh !!!! my sister and I do that, we get a smashing outfit and wear it all season. Or maybe 2 seasons, who am I kidding. We’ll text each other with our summer uniform. If I see her and she says “oh is that your winter uniform? “, it’s the highest compliment. It’s years of Catholic school actual uniforms and then wearing nursing scrubs the rest of our lives I guess. I have several target gowns that are so stellar. Where’s my belts???5

  21. tracy says:

You are AWESOME!~ Saw you post and BAM! I have a new dress within a half hour of reading this. It’s actually on sale online for 18 some odd dollars. I bought it in blue! So excited- a big thanks for this post. I have to ask….are you wearing a strapless bra with yours? I’ve never had much luck with them and bra straps would def show on this one. Guess I’ll have to dig mine out!

Stay warm! Wish I could share our heat with you ๐Ÿ˜‰
    A Cali girl~

  22. Louise says:

DON”T tell me you’re braless in those photos! With the back of the dress cut out, you probably are. Damn, I couldn’t get away with that at all!

  23. Mary Edmondson says:

Here’s a subject for a new post if you are so inclined and have any ideas on how to. How come my post and many others use the generic avatars when all my other emails go out with my picture? I use an iPad or an iMac. I’m pretty computer savvy (sometimes), but this one has me stumped.

  24. Kristi Dodson-Skinkis says:

OMG LOL!!! I am from WI.. I was so happy to see someone has a bit of spring.. then I scrolled down. TOO FUNNY!! We got a fresh new covering of snow for the first day of spring ๐Ÿ™

  25. Tigersmom says:

Adorable! And it warms my heart to know the lengths you are willing to go to entertain us.

This has been a winter for the record books, for sure. My son had a total of 4 snow days. I was never so lucky.

  26. Angelica says:

That made me laugh aloud! Possibly because I am in Australia and it never snows here…

    Love your blog BTW.

  27. Ruth says:

Woman, get your butt back inside and stop acting crazy! We cannot afford for you to succumb to frostbite…. you need your fingers for important things like texting, typing posts/newsletters and completing the kitchen renovation.

Cute nightgown though… I have no Target (and all my fabric-related stuff go missing in transit. Boo!), so I shall have to make myself one by and by. ๐Ÿ˜€

  28. Su says:

Nightgown as a dress from Target? who knew? supe rcute … might have to check it out as I can never seem to find anything I like there that isn’t just a plain t-shirt or cardigan…. love the flip-flops for the first day of spring… the hell with this winter!

  29. Kelly says:

I dug out my flip flops last night at put them by the door, in anticipation of spring’s arrival and hoping that Mother Nature would take the hint, but I was not quite crazy enough to wear them outside! Thanks for the laugh at an ungodly hour of a snowy morning. Weird hearing birds chirping as I watch the white stuff coming down.

  30. Deb says:

I have some fashion advice for you- layering would work well with this beautiful dress. I suggest a layer of long johns and possibly a parka.

  31. Mary says:

Oh Karen, you are so funny! Just what I needed this morning to get me out of my “I did not get the call for a job interview ” funk. BTW, the dress looks fab!

  32. Tricia says:

Oh the things you’ll do to entertain us! Now go put your parka on…

  33. Beckie says:

and I thought I wasn’t planting any time soon…I can at least see my dirt (that is frozen SOLID right now)

    eeks…her’e to Spring arriving soon!

  34. jainegayer says:

Karen, you are seriously twisted! LOL
Thank you for loving us enough to wear flip flops in the snow.
    Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  35. Sarah In Illinois says:

I bought some seeds and seed starter kit yesterday. It’s 29F here right now, but I am going to force Spring to come whether it likes it or not!

  36. Melissa in North Carolina says:

Mind over matter??? It can’t be much longer…cute dress/nightgown btw.

  37. Ev says:

I can relate! It’s damn March 20 in northeast Ohio, and there’s fresh snow on the ground for Pete’s sake! Not like the snowglobe thing you’ve got going though! I think Winter forgot how to turn off. Oh well, like your outfit a bunch. Sweet dreams.

  38. Robin says:

Accessories would make that outfit…such as a parka, gloves, scarf, mukluks!

  39. gogothrift@etsy.com says:

seriously want to know if there is a strapless bra involved here or some other magical “holder”.
I’m planning on buying this so I’ll need help with the smoothing logistics…thanks!!!

  40. Bols says:

    Karen,
You seriously need a new front door. One that has the windows a foot lower, so that you can see out.

  41. Amy says:

Ah! I also have a nightgown dress from Target. It’s black and has long sleeves and looks super cute with boots. No one knows it’s meant for sleeping. It’s comfy and perfect.

  42. Deb J. says:

I can soooo relate. Yesterday started at 6 a.m. in a rubber dinghy going ashore from a sailboat in the Florida keys. After a full day of the pleasures of airports (and security!?!?) I arrived in Ottawa around 11 p.m. to a major snowfall! Apparently it had been nice until about 10 minutes earlier (but still snowy). My sundress looked out of place and I had trouble figuring out how to get dressed this morning. The 10 days were definitely worth it but the culture shock! BTW my daughter is in Thailand (I shared your posts as she was prepping) and returning tomorrow to Toronto. Expect she will be ‘shocked’ too. Although my view from the plane window indicates most of their snow is gone. Ottawa still has multiple feet:(
Love your posts and your ‘dress’. Why not?

  43. victoria says:

SUPER CUTE!!!!! You need to come to LA and wear that dress, it’s 80 something degrees here!!

  44. Tracie says:

You look great and I love your nighty/dress! And we have a Target now, so I’m off to find one for myself……and a damn bra that doesn’t show….no, I don’t need to hear that you are bra-less either! ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. Debbie says:

    DYI dress! Love it!

  46. I am a true believer in nightwear for daywear too!! We too are getting another bout of winter here in Western Canada! When will it ever end???

  47. kelliblue says:

So. First day of spring huh? SNOW way! Well of course you’re a little frozen popsicle, silly – don’t you realize that outfit needs a cute little cardi with it, too? Tsk.

If it’s any cold comfort to you (ha), I clearly remember it snowing around the time of my bday (first week in May) at least twice while I was growing up in Wisconsin. So…really, it could be worse. Tho’ apparently not much worse. ๐Ÿ™

I’m sorry about your weather. I’ve been saying that a lot this year.

  49. janpartist says:

I have gorgeous mint green silk kimono pajama’s that I’ve worn to a wedding. Just commit yourself to it and be all in!

  50. Nancy Blue Moon says:

Looks cute and very comfy..it appears that they have sold out of every color on line but the stripe..You’re a good salesperson Karen..
