Tomorrow is the day. The first day of fall. I would like to be the first to officially welcome you to #sweaterweather #applepicking #autumncolors #pumpkinpatch #bootseason #ilookcuteinflannel #itsgettingcold #turntheheatup #imsickofthis #imsocold #thissweaterisitchy #enoughalready #whenisspring And the first to ask you ... What is your fall candle scent?
It's here. Release the pumpkin scent. All hail the cinnamon sticks. Shove a nutmeg up your nose, whatever. It is now your time to revel to your heart's content in all things fall.
TODAY is the first day of fall. So I hope you hung your stockings on the fireplace last night. If you did this morning they should be filled with regret and tears over the end of summer.
I may have given you the impression I don't like fall but it's not that I don't like fall. It's that I like summer more.
To give you a comparison that might be easier to understand, look at it this way. If the seasons were men, fall would be Jeff Goldblum and summer would be Idris Elba. That of course makes Daniel Craig winter and spring filled with wet dog poop in the yard and squished worms. So let's call spring David Spade.
I love living in a climate that has 4 distinct seasons. I just like to make sure I corral them into their appropriate months, which is why I don't light my pumpkin spice candles until fall, as opposed to the first time I spot them in the stores, somewhere around July 3rd.
A few years ago Country Living magazine released a "What's your Fall Candle Scent? graphic on Instagram. I liked it and figured you would too, on this most auspicious occasion, the day before the first day of fall.

Fun, right? Now I'd like to introduce you to my version which I first shared a few years ago. I reread it a few nights ago and I have to say, I still think it's hilarious and definitely worth revisiting.

It was my pleasure to help bless you with a beautiful and refined new autumn nickname!

Flaming Corn Field. Which, considering I live in California, is entirely too accurate. 🤣

Fireside Hot Toddy AKA Brown Hairy Legs here. (The first is Instagram--the second is Reality!) I'm already OVER pumpkin spice. It's starting to give me a headache. It's probably why I'm so ready for the Christmas season!!
Marsha Corniel
Just what I thought! Wormy Couch Potato! Love it because it seriously should be my Greyhound's name!
Gail
Your posts always put a smile in my heart

I’m roasted back fat.
Kelly
Melancholy Back fat. Your list is hilarious! I have to admit that I love fall because it means temps here in AZ will drop below 100 F. I am totally guilty of burning scented candles during the cooler months. :/

I have photos of a great sign:
"We have Pumpkin Spice Chainsaws"
A treasure!
I love living here

Hahaha! That's great! ~ karen

Ugh fall. I love summer to bits and pieces so I always get sad when fall rolls around. But, BUT! This summer (partially inspired by you) I planted two garden boxes and harvested basil, cilantro, parsley, oregano, and thyme. The thyme keeps growing and I don't know what to do with it. Now that it's fall I have lettuce in there, and I planted some beets in a deep container, AND I'm waiting on some garlic bulbs so I can plant for spring. Next spring I'm digging into actual ground to garden. So thank you for my supply of homemade pesto and my tiny feeling of accomplishment!
Karen
That thyme will never stop growing, lol. It will get so big you'll wonder why you ever planted it. And if you leave our cilatro to go to seed? Ditto for that. :) I continueeee to inspire. ;) ~ karen!

I got Brown Heating Bill and was laughing while explaining it to my partner. He then farted some nasty thing and said, "There's your brown heating." Happy fall everyone.
Karen
That's so unlike every man in the entire world. ;) ~ karen!

Fermented Stomach Virus but my friends call me Puke

Hahahahahaha! ~ karen!!

Golden s’mores and/or Fermented Man Cold, love the smell of Vick’s, Cherry Halls and whisky!!! But s’mores are also most excellent!!!
Tracey
Sweet S'mores, ummm...NO, but Melancholy Man Cold? Might that smell like Eucalyptus and Menthol? I could live with that.
Seriously though, I'll leave the Pumpkin Spice to y'all, it's Whiskey season. ; )
Thank you once again for a good laugh.
Karen
I like pumpkin spice. AND whiskey. ~ karen!

Wormy Stew Toots here. As a person with allergies to scented products I would like to have said I prefer this to Crisp Farmers Market. It's a toss up - I think I'd get a headache from both and my eyes would most certainly be watering.
Karen
Yes, but at least you'd know you had a nice dinner of stew recently so ... ~ karen!
Kara
Melancholy Back Fat. So laughing out loud. My 4yo asked what was so funny and he didn’t seem to get it 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe it’s because he is Musty Cold Feet. Thank you!!
Karen
You're welcome. ~ Brown Back Fat
Patti, aka Frigid Goose Poop
Oh my goodness, this made me laugh.
Karen
Frigid Goose Poop! I mean, you couldn't ask for a nicer candle scent for autumn. ~ karen!

272 days until Summer 2019 :)

Flaming Stew Toots

Omg! I just about spit my coffee out. You are definitely hilarious. This is the second time I've ever commented on a blog post (the first time was yours too). I dearly miss actual seasons - mostly fall- which we seem to skip over most years. I'm watching snow flurries come down as I type this and just got a text from my friend who is heading out in her winter gear to clear the last of the veggies from her garden :(. She also mentioned it's 28 degrees in Barrie, ON!! Are you near there? If so, please send heat my way. Look forward to your posts.
Overcast Man Cold (Seriously can't stop laughing!)
Karen
I think that's a splendid candle name for you. Yup, I'm about an hour and a half away from Barrie and it was even hotter here today. 31 I believe and with the humidity it was around 40? ~ karen!

Uncanny how your chart works! I'm sitting here in my chair as a couch potato with what feels like worms crawling in my stomach - can't shake this flu. So as Mary May, the wormy couch potato, your chart is perfection and so much more fun! I love pumpkin spice all year long and take a break at Christmas for a month of pine and peppermint. Nothing tastes good right now but I do remember how much I enjoyed your squash soup for a couple months last year. The frozen jars warmed me with a nice little surprise each time I found one in the freezer. Wish I would find some nice frozen pumpkin spice latte in there. It was feeling way over 100 degrees yesterday until it finally dropped a few plops of rain and completely stewed me in FL.
Karen
It actually felt close to that here (in Ontario, outside of Toronto) today. My neighbour came over and I said it was beautiful out but it felt a bit like Armageddon. ~ karen!

I'm actually envious ~ Yours sincerely, Wormy Flu
