My name is Karen and it's been almost a year since my last Will They Eat it Video.
My apologies.
So today I have for you a Will They Eat it Video to make up for that lost time.
You haven't lived until you've watched a chicken eat a tractor tire.
Just kidding ... push play to see the featured food item in today's Will They Eat It?
Will They Eat it Mealworms
Will the chickens eat mealworms? A great source of protein for when your chickens are moulting.
You're welcome.

I DIED when the music started.

Mmmmmmmmm! Looks like a crunchy bowl of "Nature's Path" bowl of cereal! Now I'm hungry! Too bad it's too late to have that bowl of cereal eh? Instead I'll have to settle for a cup of chai! :P

Best one yet! Finding bugs under rocks around the farm was a hobby of mine. The hens followed me around like the Pied Piper...
I love that for every situation there is a song.
Chris
I am definitely pinning this! I thought I still had on Indie88 on the computer when "I love it" blared! Was worth the wait!

Perhaps you can revise an old saying into a catchy new saying: The early chicken gets the mealworm!

My girls are hiding under my six foot eggplant bushes eating bugs and worms. They don't mess with the plants or fruits. Just the bugs. They love love their dirt bathes.
Love the music. Keep it coming.

So happy to see another episode of "Will They Eat It!" I'm also very appreciative that you added your disgust of meal worms at the end! Many years ago, when my niece was about 4, she had her little kid fishing pole and was putting meal worms on the hook. She asked me if I wanted to fish, and I told her "No thank you, I rather not touch those things." to which she replied, "That's OK Aunt Lisa, they are just soft and mushy like bananas!"
LOVED your soundtrack too! You GO girl!!!

I need those chickens in my yard to take care of my tomato worm problem. Ugh! I hate those little green jerks, but I hear chickens love them.

Dear Karen, Thanks for sharing another Important fact about chickens! I'm always reading your blog hours after the party is over because of the time difference but felt this one was too good to pass on. Nice nail polish too. 0:

Hmmmmm...am I the only one who can't see this video? None of the settings on my IPad have been changed. I'm feeling very left out of the fun :(
Must see chickens (and manicure).

Hi Lauren - There was a problem with the embed code from Youtube and the video wasn't working on iPads etc. I've fixed it now! Take a look now. ~ karen

Never mind. Have it now. Somehow I've always thought of chickens as loving worms of all ilk, so not terribly grossed out about this one.

Karen, you corral those birds and let them clean up your garden beds! They will loosen up the soil while eating the bad guys hiding, (stupid squash borers and cut worms, stuff like that,)and their droppings are great fertilizer. You can also let them loose during the growing season as long as you don't leave them in the crops too long. They'll eat the bugs first, but if you don't get them out soon enough they can shred the crops. Make them earn their keep!
Ann
They will also totally tear up the garden while looking for the bugs. We are going to fence our garden in for next season because of the damage our 18 chickens cause. They can eat all the bugs they want from the yard, and from the garden in the off season.
I knew your chickens would eat mealworms, Karen. Mine have always eaten them like candy. But the new little guineas put them to shame. I think they simply inhale them.
