Winner of the Dill Pickle Potato Chips Announced!
By the fella.

You might be thinking to yourself right now … I … I … I don’t remember any dill pickle potato chip giveaway.

The reason for that is, you probably aren’t a fan of The Art of Doing Stuff Facebook Fanpage.  The odd time I have a giveaway over there that none of you blog readers  know about.  Unless you’re also fans of the site on Facebook.  Or psychic.

This is the second time I’ve given away a bag of Dill Pickle Potato chips on the Facebook page.  It came about when someone mentioned they couldn’t get Dill Pickle chips where they live.  Then I found out a LOT of people couldn’t buy dill pickle chips in the country/city they lived in.

That made me sad.

So I lept into action and declared once I reached a certain number of fans on my Facebook page, I’d randomly give away a bag of Dill Pickle potato chips.  The winner the first time around was in Ireland.  Yup.  Ireland. Because the Irish really need another potato related product coming into their country.

So when The Art of Doing Stuff Facebook fanpage hit 5,000 fans a little while ago I decided that was a milestone mark and it was time for another Dill Pickle Chip giveaway.  The extravagance of my generosity is kind of mind blowing.  I know.

One, single bag, of Dill Pickle Potato Chips.

To enter to win all you had to do was leave a comment telling me what city and country you lived in.

The winner was to be chosen randomly by scrolling through the list of entries and sticking my finger on the screen.  Whoever’s name  it landed on would be the winner.

Everything was going fine and dandy until the fella got involved.  I don’t even know what the hell happened, but before I knew it … the giveaway was in his hands.

And as luck would have it, I got the whole thing on tape …

Never a dull moment.

Congratulations Jennifer.

    You two are awesome squared.

Just glad my name isn’t Sue Preston. LMAO!

  2. Sarah says:

I’ve been following your blog for a while (via RSS feed) and when I saw that you’d had a contest open to anyone I was so impressed (so many US blogs are just for US residents). I saw Dill Pickle chips as the prize, I thought, wow, they have those in the states as well? I started watching and heard a slight accent and thought, they sound Canadian. I heard Shoppers and I KNEW you were Canucks. Cheers from Nova Scotia Eh!

It’s fun to see that we have a few things in Canada that make us enviable. Kerr’s Heinz Ketchup chips for example are delish along with those Dill beauties. As for the states, I wish we had their Funyions and Red Hot Cheetos here…I have a bit of cross-border snacking envy as well.

I’m stopping at the grocery store on the way home – chips may find their way into my cart! yum ;>

  3. Jodie says:

That was hilarious! As I was watching your video, my fella says, “who is that?!” And I tell him it’s the best blog ever.
I wish I could say he came right over to become an addict of your blog, but instead he went right back to whatever he was doing.
    He’s so missing out!

    • Karen says:

His loss. I have an upcoming post where I’m going to show women how to grow their hair 12 inches overnight and the men … how to grow something else. He is not allowed to read it. But you are. ~ karen

  4. Stephanie "BioBetty" says:

Oh! More Fella please! and um, less clothing. cough cough I mean interesting tats?

  5. That chip video was hilarious. I think you should ask readers to send you their most unusual candy or chips from their country. People would do it for you! Just think of all the sampling you could do.

Oh I think you should also give an Eatmore away. We have to take them to family in the US when we go visit. I think it’s only avail in Canada and people are missing out.

    • Karen says:

Charlene – Eatmore is my favourite chocolate/candy bar! I LOVEEEE Eatmores. I think they’re probably an acquired taste though. Maybe. ~ karen

    • Catherine says:

I think it would be great to have people send you packets of hard to find or foreign chips (crisps).

And then to have you, the Fella, the True Pie Guy and the chickens do taste tests – maybe you could make it part of the WILL THEY EAT IT series.

Anyway I am willing to send you a packet of my favourite hard to find chips – Miss Vickie’s Lime and Black Pepper. Well hard to find in Ottawa, my favourite brother-in-law buys them for me whenever he sees them.

  6. Jillishness says:

Well, I’m pretty sure I was the one with the ketchup chip reference. Had the ketchup chips on a trip to Canada once, but didn’t have access full time to them. oh well…. Next time I will spell that out better.

  7. Marti says:

Watching him talk, some day in the distant future, I could see him giving you a list of “True Potato Chips.”

    …just a thought…

  8. Becky says:

This is funny. But now I’m sitting here wondering if I was the Becky that lost out on a bag of delicious dill pickle chips. lol.

  9. Carole McGinnis says:

You two are hillarious – loved the video. Congrats Jennifer.

  10. Jasmine says:

    Karen, you said,
“Thera – I probably just hadn’t approved the comments yet. When the comments come in overnight, I don’t get a chance to approve them until morning. ~ karen!”
Are you kidding me? WTF is wrong with you?? You don’t wake up at 3 am to check the Fella for bandages, fall down the stairs or check your blog?? Sheesh.
Another more serious note, Lay’s BBQ chips ARE sweet. I don’t know why they do that to us. Salt and Vinegar all the way baby. As much as a dill pickle fan as I am, I cannot stand the dill pickle chips. Too much dill. Go figure.
You better get going to Shoppers now-apparently the Fella has picked two more winners and you need more chips.

  11. Mary Werner says:

Please tell me that you select his clothes, furniture, car, pencil and blank sticky note! too funny

  12. That was freakin’ hilarious….

  13. Sherri says:

I hope that anyone who holds the opinion that women are inherently indecisive will see this video clip. Your fella wins the prize!

  14. Sara says:

I was in the US last week, and was buying supplies to go camping. Which means chips, of course. I was so confused and disappointed walking down the chip isle and not being able to find any of my favourites: dill pickle chips, ketchup chips or all dressed chips. WHAT DO THOSE AMERICANS EAT?! Yet another reason I’m never leaving Canada!

  15. All this talk of Dill Pickle chips….I couldn’t help but mention KETCHUP potato chips. Do you like those? They are awesome to stick bags & bags of them in your luggage and although they are smashed to little itty bits by the time you arrive at your destination….they are fun to share with Europeans.
First, they say…EWWWWhhhh. Then, they try them and LOVE em. How can they say ewwwwh?? They have hamburger flavoured chips. OMG, ewwwwh *_*.

  16. Thank you. I just snorted a cup of tea down my nose at Sue Preston.

  17. Karen says:

The video could have so easily been me and my husband. Whenever he involves himself in my projects it usually takes so much longer to accomplish what I wanted to do. And….I get just as frustrated with (at) him as you do with the fella. I am (looking for the correct word….happy?) to know that we are not the only ones.

  18. So I have to ask: what brand of dill pickle chips do you prefer? Dill pickle is my total chip-downfall – my Achilles heel in the salty snack department – but the flavors are dicey sometimes. I loved Loved LOVED the old Lay’s chips, the ones that were so stringent it peeled a layer of skin right of your tongue. Then they changed it and it got all wishy-washy in flavor. I’ve tried Doritos, Pringles, PC … pretty much every brand on the shelves. I’ve recently come back to Lay’s as the flavor seems much better, and once again they’ve recently become my fave, but I’m always curious when I meet a fellow pickle lover which one they prefer so please do tell: what brand do you stock your shelves with?

    • Karen says:

April – We recently delved into the dill pickle Doritos and I thought they were good but I ate so many I made myself sick on them. The fella doesn’t approve of them. We eat the Lays Dill Pickle chips. I like them. I do NOT like Lays BBQ chips though. For some Godforsaken reason they’re sweet. Blech. ~ karen

  19. carey says:

    hahaha!! so much for random!!!

  20. Deborah says:

LOL! You have a point on the bridle. ok, I will check out the ‘fanpage’ and go from there :)

  21. Fella says:

I’ve made my decision. Jennifer will be awarded the chips. In addition I feel that bags of chips should also be awarded to Judith of Sweden and Shauna of San Diego. Judith and Shauna both meet the requirements I was searching for. The spirit of the give away has been met.

  22. Deborah says:

Chica… I *tried* to get on your facebook page 2 months ago, sent a friend request actually that you never *accepted*.. :( I am crying in my beer now… As for the dill pickle potato chips – LOVE them! but seeing as I live in the same area as you, I just need to hit the corner store if I feel the urge to have my tongue peel from the salt and brine :P Great video of the Fella, perhaps you need to reign in him a tad…ever try a snaffle bit? :D

    • Karen says:

Deborah – Did you try to get on my fanpage by clicking the facebook link at the top of my website? There isn’t any accepting of friends on it. You just click and like and you’re in! You must have tried to be “friends” with my personal facebook page which I never look at or deal with. The only reason I have it is because I had to set it up in order to get a “fanpage” for my site. ~ karen! Oh! And I wouldn’t dare bridle the fella. What fun would he be then?

  23. Brooke says:

Trader Joe’s has milk chocolate-covered potato chips. Now THAT is something worth entering a contest for…

  24. Lindsay says:

That was hilarious! He wasn’t joking around with those chips!

  25. Shauna says:

oh crap, I just remembered the part about no kid pictures being posted – I was out of the game before it even started. Although, I don’t really understand the correlation of potato chips and kids and his logic for that. If anything, Moms need a good salty treat.

    • Larraine says:

I suspect he might have a thing about people putting kids’ pictures up where trolling pervs might find them. Fertile hunting grounds. But this all brings up two more blogs — one from Karen about how to package and send potato chips to Ireland and one from Jennifer about how many are whole when she finally gets to eat them!

  26. Shauna says:

That’s hilarious! Yeah, Sue Preston, you can just buy your own Dill Pickle Potato Chips. The winner should be someone far away, but even farther than even Colorado – like Southern California, like like um, maybe San Diego;) I fit all of the fella’s criteria – I like dill pickles, I’ve never had Dill Pickle Potato Chips and we are unable to purchase Dill Pickle Potato Chips here in San Diego. And, we definitely don’t have a store called Shoppers from which to buy said Dill Pickle Potato chips.

  27. Kim says:

Always funny! Thanks for brightening my day! The world needs more people like you!

  28. Amy in StL says:

It’s a good thing he’s so purty; because he seems to be a tad frustrating. Awesome video detailing the involved process.

  29. Fella says:

Judges ruling, Jenifer may not be the winner. I need clarification on her statement. ” I can’t wait to see what a Canadian dill pickle chip tastes like” Canadian? Has she had American or some other nationality’s dill pickle chips before? This changes everything.

  30. Sherry says:

I have never EVER laughed SO hard at a video in my life! Way to go, fella! By the way, fella. Don’t expect to be asked (snark) again to choose a winner. For anything.

  31. Irena says:

Geez,he’s such a “guy” guy. He makes sense but in a crazy way. Totally adorable but maddening for sure. Can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em.
