A Year Full of Pots: Find Out If You Won a Copy

Last week I gave everyone a chance to comment to win a copy of Sarah Raven's latest book, A Year Full of Pots. Today I announce the two winners.

I continue to read through this book amazed that I've never become pot obsessed. Regular planters that most people buy at the grocery store or garden centre for by their front doors are fine, but they're always pretty safe with their plantings and colour combinations.

Even Sarah's smallest potted flowers have huge impact. Yep. I'm inspired. It's quite official. I'm also moderately pissed that I missed out on planting tulips in containers last fall.

THIS WILL BE THE YEAR. Remind me in the fall if you could, please. Also send all your unused clay and terra cotta pots my way because when I declared myself a pothead I had no idea how much those pots cost.

I'm really looking forward to Apricotta cosmos in a pot this year but a pot in her size is about $100. Even an ugly one.

It's time to announce the winners so cross your fingers and pray to your God who I'm sure is very invested in whether or not you win a book.

Would you like to save this stuff?

We'll email you this post, so you can refer to it later.

If you don't win, but are as inspired as I am, you can scroll back up here and buy A Year Full of Pots. It's a lot more than pretty pictures.

I'm not a gusher and I definitely don't gush for money so know this is coming from my genuine interest, not an exchange of money. Except for the publisher sending you two books of course.

    Ready?

The two winners of A Year Full of Pots are:

    JO-ANN PIEBER

    SUSAN

Who said "... My only potty complaint is moving the clay pots into the shed so they don’t crack in our cold Canadian winter. ... "

    Congratulations to the winners.

Monday's post will be video of me spending an hour in my seed starting station. I've compressed that full hour into a video of 5 tip-filled minutes.

Thanks for getting back to me.
One thing I was wondering is I know you like seeds from Floret. I have some that may be about 2 -3 yrs old still in their packaging that I know now I will never use. I'd like to give them to you if you would like to have them. Would like them to go to someone who appreciates Florets flowers. And also as a thank you for your postings. Just let me know.
      Thanks for your time,
      Susan

Thanks Susan but I have vowed no more seeds for a while until I use what I have. ;) But there are seed libraries around (often at libraries) that you can donate your seeds to if you don't know of anyone who grows from seed. ~ karen!

      Hey Karen,
I see that there is a Susan who won one of the books A Full Year Of Pots....I'm wondering if I am THE Susan or if someone else. If perchance I am THE one, would you have an idea of when the book might be sent? Thanks so much for your time.

For the long term investment, check the hardware stores by the end of summer. Last year I got a ginormous terracotta pot at Home Depot for less than 40 CAD. And some other very nice deals in smaller sizes. Good luck!

Oh, Yahoooo and big congrats to the two very deserving winners as I already know anyone who faithfully follows our loved fellow gardener, and typical Canadian one to boot, Karen, lovely zany and damned determined to garden anywhere despite any wild temp swings we ballsy gardeners rise to the challenge of year after year after year and consequences be damned to the occasional full face plant into our dirt and, now in future, absolutely perfect pretty pot dirt gardens too. As my generation and all those following know you're not really a gardener until you're eating a pound of dirt a year and proudly too. Bwahahahah. Well done Ladies.and fellow gardeners.

Thanks for your lovely comment Linfy - I can't Help but feel a bit, erm, weird and embarrassed? about actually Winning! And about how my comments might seem like crowing? Hope not.
But I Will try to live up to your sentiment that because I'm a faithful follower of Karen's too-good?! blog? (can we really not come up with a better word?) that I might be somewhat deserving....I will really try to live up to that. I'm thinking about taking a picture of my deck Now - with multiple pots and containers - some good, lots Not - and let's see what happens at the End of the/this season? Next season too? Hmmmm.
But I also want to say to All the people who wanted this book too? I Will make very good use of it. Promise.

My garden is near our septic drain field so I only have three very short rows of garden beds NOT over the drain field BUT I have tons of other ways to garden very successfully - using pots of all kinds. I have 11 greenstalks, many grow bags, pots that are beautiful and ugly ones just so I can plant. We have flowers in an old holey wheelbarrow, and three amazingly beautiful tall very expensive pots out front that make out yard beautiful. Flowers, herbs, vegetables and fruits all survive in our pot gardens but you do have to learn a different way of gardening to make them thrive. IT CAN BE DONE well and beautifully.

Congrats to the winners. Container gardening is not just for clay pots. I have been repurposing old toilets for years. I call them my flower potties.

Congrats to the winners!!! I grow tomatoes, peppers, herbs in pots…and flowers! I’d rather plant the veggies in the ground but I’m getting older and can’t get up and down like I did in my younger years, but still not ready to give up gardening!

Congratulations to the lucky winners. May your green-thumb efforts be fruitful. While I don't partake in the gardening hobby, I well appreciate the labour of love that it is.
