So sorry at the passing of your dear companion. They take a permanent place in our hearts, give us joy at every turn and (with cats) love us conditionally. Blessings and best wishes as you grieve your loss. Take care.

Your title sums it up. I've had to make the decision with two dogs (one young and sick, one old and failing), and it is incredibly difficult. It will never get easier, and I will continue to have to make those decisions because I will always have dogs.
Being selfless and putting the needs of the beloved family member first is the ultimate expression of love. I'm so sorry for your loss, and grateful you were able to have many wonderful years together.

My heart aches for you Karen. I lost Sam my wonderful dog in January. He was diabetic and had lost his sight and finally was suffering tracheal collapse. Animals give so much and teach us how to love in a very different way. I've since adopted a crazy 10 year old Yorkie. He hasn't filled the void but he's helped to heal my broken heart.

I'm so sorry, Karen.

There's no pain like it...I'm so sorry.
She was so lucky to have such a cool life/mum.

I wish I could give you a great big hug and cry along with you. Our pets are our best buds, and it hurts so much when they are gone. Take all the time you need to heal.

The love is always greater than the grief. Said by one who has been there too many times. They fill our lives and our hearts. 💕

I am so sorry. I had to do it for my cat 6 years ago and I still cry over him. He so wanted to live that when the vet was about to give the shot, he lifted his head slightly and growled at her. I laughed through my tears because I thought, he's still in there, but he was so weak and frail. He looked like Cleo, and I did the same fluids treatments with him. My husband couldn't bear to come with me to do it. But a friend of mine told me something that helped me get through it: When we take responsibility for their life, we also take responsibility for their death. You're in pain so she doesn't have to be. The pain does fade over time. Now I can remember Cat as a proud warrior in his prime. Even after he got sick, he could drive interlopers off through sheer force of personality. I remember him plodding after a ginger cat, who slunk away in shame. Sending you virtual hugs and sympathy. It gets better with time.

Shedding tears for your sweet girl and the ones I have lost as well. Hugs to you. It just sucks. I know.

So, so, so sorry. Nothing makes it better except time. You did the best you could for her, even in this.❤❤❤❤

Sorry for your loss Karen Cleo was a beautiful little girl.
Teresa
Yep. That’s the deal we make for the love they give.

Karen,
I’m so sorry for your loss. But thank you for sharing the process of caring for Cleo in her last years. I read each post thinking of my own cats, and how terrible will feel if they get sick, and when they eventually leave me. I hope your pain subsides in time.
