Are you familiar with snow drops? They're tiny little flowers that peek out of the snow every spring. So perfect, you expect a little pollen-drunk Tinkerbell to drop out of them.
Never. Not once in my life have I ever cut snowdrops and brought them inside. They grow hidden beside my shed where the only time I can see them is when I'm picking up dog poop.
Which is either twice a day like clockwork, or every oh my god what is that smell.
Today I cut the snowdrops because when I come home after digging 160 feet of trench this weekend I will need beauty as soon as I walk in the door. I am using them to bribe myself.
Setting them with a little thunk on the wood countertop and knowing I'll be able to come home and look at them is an incentive for me.
Just not a big enough incentive to make me enthusiastic about performing prison duty for 8 hours.
So. I've made a decision.
I've decided, that after digging all day -
I will probably also need another Pinks Burger.
If not on the first day of digging, then surely the second or third. If you are not familiar with my first Pinks Burger adventure you can read that here.
I will keep you apprised of the situation.

P.S. Let's do a poll. Out of curiosity, for no reason at all, which photo do you like better? The original or the colourized one I made. I go back & forth on it.

I love the colourized Snowdrops. They remind me of little hatching Easter eggs. I have them in two sizes. Tiny compact one with blossoms the same size as the larger ones like yours.🐣🐥🐤
Ha ha ha have a very Happy Easter! I clicked on the red button to get bonus material and clicked again as I noticed I spelled my name wrong... life in the fast lane.
So eggcited to plant some Johnny Jump Ups today. It really does feel like spring has sprung. Soon we will be complaining about the heat instead of the cold since we will have heat and humidity in a few short weeks. May and June are, as you know, both the new July.
Keep on being funny and creative.
Karen
23 C this week! With a humidex even higher. ~karen!
Susan
Original non colourized.

If I were trying to be all artistic and cool, I’d say the white one. But I’m neither of those things so I like the color one best because it’s interesting to my eye and kind of soothing for reasons I don’t really get.
Karen
I feel the same way. I actually do think I prefer the white but there's something about those coloured blooms that's ethereal almost. ~ karen!
Leslie Zuroski
Tough choice, both SO pretty! I guess I pick the first one because I am sort of into black and white things lately! At first, I thought there as going to be a revelation that when you put snowdrops in a vase with water they change color, :)
bETSY
I thought the same thing!
Karen
That'd be fun! ~ karen
Susan WB
I prefer the original one but found the colorized one original, suggestive of Easter eggs.
Elaine
I like them both but the white one is my favourite. Can't get past snowdrops being any other colour than 'snow'. Thanks for the puzzles. They are fun to do.
JillB
The original. The colorized one is nice, but there's something so calming about the first one.
Cristie
Love both..but original is soooo Original, ya know? 🤪
Beth
The colorized one made me think Easter, and it is that time of year. But the original in its stark beauty works for me.
Edie Marie
Such a sweet sign of spring! Your photograph of them is absolutely lovely! Happy Spring Karen!!
Karen
Thank you Edie! ~ karen
Julie
Colorized! I was about ready to 'google' where I could buy the seeds to grow these. LOL You have so inspired me to grow everything from seed. I'm sure I've watched your videos a million times making lists, ordering from Amazon and trying to find the space where to set up my mini greenhouse. What I thought was going to be a real money saver is not the case for the first year, but will be in the future. I didn't realize how much space I was going to need once I started transferring into 3" pots. OMG! I've planted too much, but don't have the heart to throw away my little babies. I planted 240 cells of 25 different annuals and perennials, again from your suggestions from Baker Seeds and tried not to over plant. Those tiny little seeds are too hard to only get 3 or 4 per starter pod. I've still got 5 more packets to plant, but they're in the frig being, well refrigerated because that's what the instructions said to do first. Your subtitle caught my eye a couple of years ago and now I talk about you and your posts to my friends and they asked me who are you talking about. I say, you know, the girl from Canada! Your subtitle, For People Who Like to Sweat, Swear & Do Stuff is me! Just when I don't think I can tackle something, I look over your stuff and say, okay, I can do this. You just crack me up with your wording and how you view tasks.
Take care, Julie
Karen
Thanks Julie! And good luck with all those seedlings. It is truly amazing how quickly they grow and HOW much space they really take up. ~ karen!
Teri on the Left Coast
Also, you could sell prints of the first pic, the one with the natural Snowdrops. Very dramatic. I love photographic art. Mostly because I’m that photographer that has a pile growing out of someone’s head. If I don’t cut off the head.
Teri on the Left Coast, enjoying the daffs, and flowering plum trees.
Love them both. The originals because they are so wonderful in February here on the Left Coast but the coloured ones made me smile because they were unexpected. Nice work! You is an artist.
Karen
I think I actually prefer the original photo but I find the work of colourizing them to be relaxing. :) ~ karen!
ShirlQ
The original ones
Karen but definitely not the Karen who runs the blog
We have snowdrops here in the west coast about February. So they are long gone . But I love the “ natural “ ones and the black vase is genius!
Karen
I love that black vase. I have 3 that are all similar, but slightly different shapes. They were from my sister's store. ~ karen!
Louise
Yes, I remember snowdrops from when I lived in New York state a million years ago. They were such pretty signs of Spring!
The white snowdrops are beautiful and natural, but the colorized ones are a surprise. They look almost as if they were enamel jewelry, so I'm drawn to look at them more. The colors play up their shapes.
George McCarter
Very nice photo of the snowdrops Karen! either you have some tallent or you got very lucky. I love the vase and the cut flowers spread to the side and front are so appealing to the eye. Did you use natural light from the window with a reflector for fill. Anyway very nice! Thanks.
George
Karen
Hi George! Well, thank you. :) I used side light from my front door with a diffuser propped against the window glass to help tone down hot spots. ~ karen!
Lois
The colorized one is charming--but I like the original best. So pure.
Anne
The colourized one.

Watching My Cousin Vinny for the umpteenth time, so the puzzles will have to wait a hour or so. But I kinda like the colorized pic more? And no, of course I had NO idea what snowdrops were.... and I'm OK with that. lol
Karen
And I have NO idea what My Cousin Vinny is. Just kidding. But now I'm tempted to watch it. I haven't seen it since 1993. ~ karen!
