Today I'm in the mood for a philosophical discussion.
Is there any truth to the widely accepted theory that "Less is More"?
Let us examine this in the context of oxygen. If given the option of receiving either less or more oxygen, which would you choose? Let's see ... no oxygen or lots of oxygen? You don't have to be a scuba diver to know lots of oxygen is the right answer.
What about pizza? Would I be happier after eating one bite of pizza? Or an entire pizza? The answer is obvious. Entire pizza please.
And finally, sloths. Do I want one sloth? Or many sloths? Hundreds of sloths? I want the most amount of sloths possible, thank you.
So clearly, this theory about "less is more" is somewhat flawed. It is a fallacy possibly perpetuated by a diminutive phallus. That's my guess anyway.
However ... are there any circumstances where less really IS more?
Let us turn to the examination of tulips. I have 3 control groups for you to consider. The $1, $7 and $40 arrangement of tulips.
Table of Contents
The $1 tulip.
The $1 tulip will be representing the "less" group.
The $7 tulips.
The $7 tulips will be representing the mama bear group.
The $40 tulips.
The $40 tulips will be representing the "more" group.
So. Now that you have the information and visuals, it's time to collect the data. What do you think? In the case of orange tulips arranged for pleasing the eye, is the widely accepted theory true? Is less, more?
Or ... is MORE more?

In my humble opinion, one can never have too many tulips.

I just voted for you...again. Because you rock and also because I don't know if I can live in a world where a blog called "Bower Power" would win out over your amazing-ness! Aaaaaand I love the $40 bunch of tulips!

More more more! So beautiful. And this is an Australian that is extremely jealous that you can get flowers soooo cheap! That would be at least double the price here:(
Jamie
Mama Bear, definitely!

I find myself buying single stems at the farmer's market in the summer. Or buying a bunch and putting single stems in vases all over the house.
BUT I do live in Holland Michigan and the Tulip Time festival brings 6 million bulbs to the city, so I do love the last $40 collection!
(And you should listen to the Avett brothers album I and Love and You. It's amazing.)

More.
The orange tulips look beautiful. They all look great but the big bunch is just fabulous!

So here ya go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE7rkSELM3I I challenge you to not love this. I think it's impossible to do (despite the undershirts). And after you listen to it and love it, go find the video about "Love Like a Kick Drum." Great song.
Your album is good also, and the big bunch is my favorite. Viva le excess!

I'm all about balance so from time to time I say heck, splurge on the big bouquet and when times are tough, one tulip will do. I make it a habit to buy a dozen roses each week or two. So much cheaper than smoking.

Love them all. Each arrangement suits different surrounding and purpose: single for small desk, large bouquet for dining table, etc.

More is more! Gorgeous color!!!!

I lean toward the 'less' side... I like the 'less' and the 'mama bear' arrangements. I think, while stunning, there are about $33 more tulips in the 'more' group than I can fully appreciate in one viewing. :-)

Here ya go. Avett Brothers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE7rkSELM3I I challenge you to not love this video. Can't be done. After you listen to it, you will want to listen to all their other stuff. I particularly like the one about Love Like a Kick Drum.
Your album is good, too. And your big bunch of tulips.

I'd like to have LESS all over the house please. That would really be less and more all put together.
Jane
Love the way the $40 tulips bring out the orange in the car wash mitt pillow. Really pops. Is that the same sofa?
Karen
Yup! ~ k

#3! I buy myself fresh flowers every week while grocery shopping and never regret spending that extra money. They make me so happy!

More! That big bouquet is stunning. For a tight space, I do kind of like one tulip though. Ok, so either more or less, but not in between.
Oh, and I'm officially getting some tulips on the way home.

If I receive a large group of flowers I automatically break them up into several smaller arrangements. It's like I am programmed that way for some reason.
For my entire life, whenever I've left an album out, immediately one of my cats has laid upon it. They're like big cat magnets. Obviously, it's not the most healthy thing for the records. How do you not have cats laying on your albums? (Not really a concern of mine any more... I just sold my entire lot of them, which began with my first choices - Osmond Brothers and Led Zeppelin II. I was a very diverisified 11-year old.)

Can I vote for all 3 choices? - displayed thru-out the home for visual continuity?

If I had the money to splurge I would get the $40 group..I mean how often can you treat yourself like that??..Otherwise I would love the $7 group..they look so nice in your silver pot and I just got one at a church thrift store auction for the amazing price of $2..I must tell you that I have gorgeous tulips in my garden and can't wait for them to bloom this Spring..The ones that are a mix of red and yellow are my favorites..Also I decided to add the Blue Moon to my name Karen because I see that you are getting more Nancys as readers so this will be less confusing..

My husband was working in Moscow when the production company flattered him into being their model for an ad, giving flowers to a pretty girl. Only later did he notice that one bunch were drooping as only tulips can, and in the next shot the others were thrusting vibrantly from his hand...
